The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shafer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Fuller is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shafer pulls his head out easily.
Shafer content to control rather than advance.
Fuller is trying to maintain the position but Shafer is very close to passing his half guard.
Fuller is trying to escape back to his feet but Shafer uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Shafer content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Shafer in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Shafer cracks Fuller with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Fuller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Shafer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Shafer looks up at the clock and then as Fuller takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shafer smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shafer scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Fuller is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Shafer can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
