PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wan Iaton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jebediah Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewart has chosen Momma Said Knock You Out as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wan Iaton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jebediah Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stewart decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Iaton is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stewart pulls his head out easily.
Iaton gets back to full guard.
Stewart is looking to stand up but Iaton won't let him.
Iaton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stewart manages to get himself to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stewart can do anything to dispel that myth.
Iaton works over Stewart with some ground and pound from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Iaton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Iaton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Iaton won't allow Stewart to get back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Iaton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Iaton postures up in Stewart's guard and throws a big left but Stewart blocks it.
Iaton throws a strike but Stewart rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Iaton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stewart throws a big elbow that misses.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Stewart tries to free his leg and advance position but Iaton is retaining full guard.
Iaton tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Wan Iaton wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Stewart looks to clinch
and Iaton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Stewart counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stewart.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Iaton looking for a guillotine here but Stewart defends easily.

Stewart got a little sloppy there for a moment and Iaton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stewart has managed to get both his arms back between Iaton's legs - danger averted.
Stewart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Iaton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Iaton makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Iaton.

Iaton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stewart can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stewart wants to control from the top but Iaton keeps moving.
Stewart would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Iaton looking for a triangle here. Stewart is fighting it but it looks tight! Iaton pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Stewart is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Wan Iaton!
