PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Dunlap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Eachann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Raphael Eachann!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eachann moves in looking to clinch but Dunlap pushes him off.

Dunlap gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Eachann is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Eachann prevents Dunlap from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunlap wants to sweep but no luck.

Eachann decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Eachann closes the distance and clinches up with Dunlap, looking for a takedown. Eachann pushes Dunlap against the cage but Dunlap circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dunlap drives through and clinches with Eachann against the cage.
Dunlap gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Eachann.
Eachann goes for a takedown attempt but Dunlap pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Michael Dunlap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Eachann.

Dunlap gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Eachann regains guard.
Eachann is trying to control the position but Dunlap postures up.

Dunlap is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Eachann thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dunlap's head.

Dunlap kicks off Eachann and gets to his feet.

Nice takedown defense from Dunlap. No joy for Eachann on that attempt.

Dunlap clinches up with Eachann and pushes him back against the cage.
Eachann digs a right hand into Dunlap's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dunlap's gas tank.
Dunlap throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Eachanns head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Eachann tries for a takedown. No joy.

Dunlap gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Eachann working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dunlap doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dunlap manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dunlap is keen to just control but Eachann is a slippery customer.

Dunlap seems to be looking for submissions.

Eachann is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Eachann manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dunlap manages to get himself to full guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Eachann's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Eachann wants to get back to his feet but Dunlap is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Dunlap gets to his feet - Eachann follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Dunlap will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Eachann is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Eachann goes for a takedown attempt but Dunlap pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Eachann gets to his feet. Dunlap looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Eachann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eachann lands in his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dunlap is on top in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dunlap lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Dunlap lands a right hand that snaps the head of Eachann backwards.

Dunlap has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Eachann uses from the top position.

Eachann drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Eachann jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Eachann working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Dunlap looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Eachann! Submission of the night perhaps?
