PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mac Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guigui Borgne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mac Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 26 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Guigui Borgne!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borgne misses with a head kick.
Hansen lands with a nice combination. Borgne backs away looking to recover.
Some wild striking there from Hansen.
Borgne takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Borgne looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Guigui Borgne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hansen scores with a hook.
Borgne tries to clinch but Hansen moves out of range.
Hansen throws a nice looking combination but Borgne bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Borgne tries to close the distance and clinch but Hansen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Borgne enables Hansen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Borgne manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hansen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hansen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Borgne looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hansen is trying to control the action in half guard but Borgne is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Borgne's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hansen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hansen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Borgne is looking to escape.
Borgne seems to have recovered his senses.

Hansen goes for an armbar but Borgne turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Borgne.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hansen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hansen showed some decent athleticism there.
Hansen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Hansen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hansen lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Borgne! Hansen sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Borgne and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
