Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Gage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frenk Schmellengartner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Gage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frenk Schmellengartner!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gage keeps the fight on the outside.
Schmellengartner lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gage's sensitive parts.
Gage throws a series of punches but Schmellengartner avoids them all with ease.
Gage shoots in for a double leg but Schmellengartner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Schmellengartner throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gage tries for a takedown but Schmellengartner circles away easily

and Schmellengartner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schmellengartner.
Schmellengartner is trying to maintain a safe position but Gage gets an underhook and turns Schmellengartner into the cage.
Gage can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Gage. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gage turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gage manages to end up in side control.
Schmellengartner is trying to improve his position.
Schmellengartner is not content to let Gage control the position.
Gage remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Gage is keen to just control but Schmellengartner is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gage thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gage cracks Schmellengartner with a big right hand but Schmellengartner just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Gage is looking to take a break and control but Schmellengartner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gage content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Schmellengartner is concentrating on defense, preventing Gage from advancing position.
Schmellengartner regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Gage.

Gage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schmellengartner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Schmellengartner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gage was well out of range. Poor timing from Schmellengartner.
Gage lands with a kick to the temple. Schmellengartner shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Gage shoots in for a takedown but Schmellengartner shows good takedown defense.

Gage throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Gage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schmellengartner's waist but Schmellengartner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gage off to one side.

Gage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown by Gage or perhaps it was just good defense by Schmellengartner which made him look bad.

Gage wants to break free but Schmellengartner has control.
Schmellengartner lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Schmellengartner trying to control the position but instead, Gage has worked for underhooks and has pushed Schmellengartner into the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Schmellengartner takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stan Gage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Schmellengartner throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gage's head.

Gage tries to keep at a distance but Schmellengartner has taken the fight into the clinch.
Schmellengartner comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Gage drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Schmellengartner is pressed up against the cage. Gage has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schmellengartner down to the mat. Schmellengartner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Frenk Schmellengartner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Stan Gage's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Schmellengartner slaps away a takedown attempt from Gage, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schmellengartner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Schmellengartner's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gage under the eye.

Schmellengartner has managed to clinch.
Schmellengartner lands a big knee! That's hurt Gage! Oh, he's all over the place! Schmellengartner lands another knee that sends Gage to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frenk Schmellengartner!
