The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballantine misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cottle.
Ballantine attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Ballantine just misses with a punch to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cottle walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ballantine misses with a hook. Cottle ducked under it nicely.
Cottle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ballantine as he jumps to the side.

Cottle shoots in for a double leg but Ballantine sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ballantine throws a nice looking combination but Cottle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cottle shoots in looking for a takedown. Ballantine tries to sprawl out of it but Cottle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ballantine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Cottle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ballantine throws and low kick but Cottle moves out of range easily.
Cottle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ballantine swivels and escapes.
Ballantine throws a right and a left that Cottle avoids nicely.
Ballantine lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Cottle sprawling to the canvas. Ballantine follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Cottle hang on?

Cottle is rocked!

It looks like David Cottle has been cut.

Ballantine stands up and beckons Cottle to join him on the feet.
Oh Cottle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cottle is breathing heavily.
Cottle closes the distance and clinches up with Ballantine, looking for a takedown. Cottle pushes Ballantine against the cage but Ballantine circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ballantine lands with a right and another and another! Cottle is in big trouble! Ballantine lands again and this time it's lights out for Cottle! A quality knockout there for Ballantine.
