Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koscheck comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Koscheck!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pablo Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez throws a quick inside leg kick.

Gomez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Koscheck's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gomez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gomez wants to pass the guard but Koscheck is keeping the position.
Koscheck controls Gomez momentarily but Gomez frees himself.
Koscheck wants to stand up but Gomez is controlling him.
Gomez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koscheck swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Koscheck looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kevin Koscheck.
Koscheck shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gomez sprawls well. Gomez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Koscheck gets slowly back to his feet.

Gomez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Koscheck manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koscheck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Koscheck's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Koscheck has gone for a leg lock! Gomez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Koscheck's guard.

Gomez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Koscheck manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gomez has Koscheck in his guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Koscheck has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gomez is proving hard to escape from.

Gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koscheck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gomez tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gomez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Koscheck defends well.

Koscheck drops back looking for a leg! Gomez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomez manages to kick Koscheck off! Koscheck jumps back into Gomez's guard.
Gomez wants to stand up but Koscheck is controlling him.
Gomez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Koscheck decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Koscheck tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Koscheck takes one to the side of the head.
Koscheck closes the distance and clinches up with Gomez, looking for a takedown. Koscheck pushes Gomez against the cage but Gomez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Koscheck is breathing heavily.

Gomez takes the fight into the clinch.
Koscheck throws a head punch that misses.
Gomez utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gomez is trying to pull guard but Koscheck turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Gomez keeps control of Koscheck as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Gomez putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Koscheck in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Gomez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Koscheck smiles and moves away.
Kevin Koscheck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Gomez.

Gomez wants to clinch.
No luck for Koscheck with that takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gomez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Koscheck's half guard.
Koscheck tries to roll over but Gomez keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Gomez makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Gomez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Koscheck. That did some damage!
Koscheck stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Koscheck wants it to stay on the feet.
Pablo Gomez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Koscheck displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomez.
Gomez misses with a takedown attempt - Koscheck sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kevin Koscheck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Gomez.

and Gomez counters with a body kick that stops Koscheck in his tracks momentarily.
Kevin Koscheck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Koscheck enables Gomez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Koscheck manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gomez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koscheck swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Koscheck has had enough of the clinch but Gomez keeps him there for the moment.
Koscheck throws a punch but it's blocked by Gomez.

Gomez breaks from the clinch.
Koscheck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Koscheck somewhat.
Gomez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Koscheck at a distance.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Koscheck. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pablo Gomez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koscheck thows a huge punch but Gomez dodges it nicely.

Gomez manages to get to full guard.

Gomez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koscheck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gomez is tightening it up a little... Koscheck has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Koscheck reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Koscheck taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gomez!
