Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts lunges at Jacobs with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jacobs's hand.

Roberts gets caught napping as Jacobs dives in and scores a takedown. Roberts manages to retain guard.
Jacobs stops Roberts from standing up.
Jacobs with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jacobs throwing strikes from guard but Roberts blocks nicely.
Jacobs looking to sit in guard and control but Roberts gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jacobs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jacobs is trying to keep Roberts in close.
Jacobs wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jacobs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Roberts must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Roberts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jacobs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Roberts.
Jacobs shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roberts pinned against the cage. Roberts gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jacobs misses with a takedown attempt - Roberts sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Roberts is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jacobs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roberts lands a really nice looking cross but Jacobs seems unphased.

Jacobs throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Roberts on the side of the head.

Roberts tries to bum rush Jacobs with a series of wild strikes but Jacobs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Roberts throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jacobs is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A shot to the liver by Roberts. Beautiful body shot.
Roberts cracks Jacobs with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jacobs misses with a kick to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Roberts. No joy for Jacobs on that attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jacobs throws a nice outside leg kick.
Roberts throws a head kick but Jacobs moves out of range.

Jacobs throws a body punch but Roberts moves out of range.
Jacobs throws a wild body kick that Roberts sees coming a mile off.

Roberts misses with a jab to the body

and Jacobs counters by moving into the clinch.
Roberts is trying to push Jacobs away but Jacobs has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jacobs has Roberts pressed against the cage, preventing Roberts from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Roberts blocks the elbow strike.
Jacobs drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head punch on the inside from Jacobs fails to land.

Roberts is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jacobs is looking for a takedown.
Jacobs holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Jacobs throws a knee to the head but misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jacobs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Roberts avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

A close second round but Jim Roberts will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jacobs shoots for a double leg takedown but Roberts sprawls well. He's pushed Jacobs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Roberts stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Jacobs tries a low kick but Roberts avoids it.

Jacobs drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jacobs. Roberts does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jacobs walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Roberts flashes Jacobs a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Jacobs's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Jacobs crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Roberts punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jim Roberts!
A less than humble Jim Roberts misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
