The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Read throws a right and a left that both miss.
A clash of legs there as Read blocks the low kick.
Good standup being displayed there by Read as he connects with a hook.
Jet Li seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Read. Those never looked like landing.
Some wild striking there from Read.
Read thows a left - swing and a miss!
Read throws out a powerful jab.
Li moves away from the strike by Read.
Read on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Li. Li obviously looking to wear him down.
Li tries a head kick but it misses.
Li tries to move into range but Read moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Li counters with a good low kick that Read was not able to check.
Read blocks the body kick.

Read is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Li is looking to chop away at Read's legs.
Li misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Read takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Read connects with a good right hand that stumbles Li. Li circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Li walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Read checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Read misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Li.
Read is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

That kick from Li tenderised Read's leg. Read is trying to keep his angry face on.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Read throws a hook but Li avoids it easily.
Li feints and then cracks Read's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Read down.
Li tries a head kick but it misses.
Li misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Read moves out of range of the body kick from Li.
Read is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Read looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

It looks like Mark Read has been cut.
A slapping leg kick lands for Li.

Read gets a takedown into half guard.
Read is breathing heavily.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Li slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Read not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Read is working Li over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
