The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hone on the side of the head.

Springer has Hone up against the cage in a clinch.
Hone tries to break free but Springer pushes him back against the cage.
Springer landing knees to the body.
Hone tries to pull guard but Springer holds him up against the cage and eventually Hone drops back down to his feet.

Springer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hone wants to clinch.
Hone fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hone has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Springer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Springer!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Springer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hone tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Springer is in Hone's guard.

Hone looking to control.

Hone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Springer is aware though and is defending well.
Springer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Springer trying to control but Hone is working from the bottom.
Hone wants to sweep but no luck.
Springer stops Hone from standing up.
Springer wants to control from the top but Hone keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Springer defends well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Springer won't allow Hone to get back to his feet.

Springer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Springer wants to stand and escape but instead Hone has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hone gets to his feet - Springer follows without any prompting.
Hone looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hone fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Hone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hone is breathing heavily.

Springer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hone can't get the takedown.

Springer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Springer manages to end up in side control.
Springer wants to stand but Hone is controlling his arm.
Springer throwing strikes but Hone manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The ground and pound from Hone seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Springer tries to escape but Hone is in control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Springer is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hone works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jerry Springer will probably get the nod.

Hone shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Springer looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hone slows the pace down in half guard.

Springer tries to roll over but Hone keeps him under control.

Hone looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Springer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hone is trying for a kimura here. Springer looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Hone wins by kimura!
