PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolf Neurath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hades gets the takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Hades decides to stand up, so the ref orders Neurath to his feet.
Hades takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Neurath rushes Hades and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Neurath breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hades is trying hard to land a takedown here. Neurath sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Neurath tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hades sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Neurath somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hades shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Neurath but Neurath pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hades is looking to advance position but Neurath won't allow it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Neurath has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hades is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hades leaves Neurath with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hades shoots in but Neurath avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Neurath looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hades is fending him off so far but Neurath persists. Nope, Hades circles away and we're back to standing.

Hades has taken the fight to the clinch.

Neurath pulls guard.

Neurath has his foot on Hades's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hades works his way back into a safe position though.

Hades is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Neurath as he works his way to full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Hades will probably get the nod.

Neurath throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Horrible takedown by Neurath or perhaps it was just good defense by Hades which made him look bad.
Neurath will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hades works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Neurath has managed to clinch.
Hades goes for a takedown in the clinch but Neurath prevents it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Neurath has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hades uses from the top position.

Mark Hades overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hades is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Neurath to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Neurath shrugs it off.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Hades.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hades, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
