PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dan Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles St Something (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St Something has chosen Fight The Power as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles St Something!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skinner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but St Something manages to avoid it.

Skinner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches St Something napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Skinner goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, St Something has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Skinner but great work by St Something.

St Something wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Skinner, who protects the arm well.
Skinner tries to bench press St Something off him but St Something keeps the position.
St Something wants to lay and pray for a moment but Skinner keeps working.

St Something swings around for an armbar but Skinner sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into St Something's guard.
Skinner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. St Something swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Skinner pushes down on St Something's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

St Something is defending against the submission attempts here by Skinner.
St Something is trying to get back to full guard.

Skinner seems to be working for a kimura but St Something defends the submission attempt.
Skinner trying to control from half guard but St Something is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Skinner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because St Something is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
St Something moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

St Something throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

St Something keeping full guard, as Skinner tries to pass.
Skinner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Skinner has gone for a leg lock! St Something slips out almost immediately though and dives into Skinner's guard.
St Something wants to pass the guard but Skinner is keeping the position.

Skinner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
St Something looking to pass the guard.
Skinner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Skinner has St Something pulled in close to control his posture.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skinner is on top in guard.
Skinner passes St Something's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



St Something tries to sprawl but Skinner drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Skinner is controlling the pace.

St Something is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Skinner pulls his head out easily.
St Something is trying to get back to full guard.

Skinner looking for a submission but St Something manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

St Something throws his legs up looking for a submission but Skinner uses it to pass to side control.

Skinner goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, St Something rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Skinner's guard! Nice work there by St Something!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skinner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Skinner is stalling here but it's allowed St Something to get half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Skinner is working for a kimura but St Something is defending it quite comfortably.
St Something is pressing down on Skinner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
St Something keeping moving, preventing Skinner from controlling successfully.
St Something looking to hit a scissor sweep but Skinner is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skinner slips nicely into half guard.
St Something is refusing to be controlled, as Skinner sits in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Skinner in particular looking to stall.

Skinner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Skinner is just content to waste time from the top position. St Something takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
St Something wants to sweep here but Skinner controlling him for the moment.
Skinner slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Skinner dominated that second round.
That's time! Skinner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Skinner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
St Something working to try and regain half guard.
St Something has given up his back here. Will Skinner look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Skinner tightening his grip on St Something, looking for the choke.

Skinner is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. St Something defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

St Something prevents Skinner from getting a body triangle.

Skinner looking for the RNC.
Skinner is not going to allow St Something to sit and survive in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Skinner has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, St Something has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
St Something rolls, trying to escape but Skinner keeps control of the position.

Skinner is persistently looking for the submission but St Something is defending it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
St Something trying to control but not successfully.
Dan Skinner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skinner controlling well, preventing St Something from escaping the position.

Skinner is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! St Something is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dan Skinner!
A very excited looking Dan Skinner rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
