Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ground Guru!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guru looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown by Guru or perhaps it was just good defense by Matthews which made him look bad.
Guru shoots in but Matthews avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Matthews looks to land a combination but Guru avoids it well.

Guru ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Matthews scores with a one two! Guru had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Ground Guru has been cut.

Guru tries to clinch up but Matthews circles away and keeps his distance.
Ground Guru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guru uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Matthews.

Guru tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Matthews paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Guru fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Guru shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matthews as he avoids it easily.

Matthews moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Guru changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matthews tries to avoid it but Guru manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matthews to the ground. Matthews escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Matthews escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ground Guru comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Guru has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
