Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dew Rain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kasahiro Yama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yama has chosen Yatta as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dew Rain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kasahiro Yama!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rain shoots in and gets a takedown into Yama's guard.
Rain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Yama is keeping the position for now.
Yama is trying to keep Rain in close.
Yama lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rain!
Rain is trying desperately to improve position.
Yama postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rain looks a forlorn figure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rain keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Yama scoring with strikes but Rain is staying in there.
Yama has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rain's face.
Yama can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rain is looking to escape.
The referee warns Rain that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Yama can't control as he wanted to and Rain manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Rain is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Yama jumps into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rain is trying to control Yama's posture but Yama avoids it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Rain gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Yama is looking to take a break and control but Rain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rain makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rain.
Yama postures up in Rain's guard and throws a big left but Rain blocks it.

Rain is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Yama got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yama has managed to get both his arms back between Rain's legs - danger averted.

Rain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yama is one step ahead there.
Yama wants to control from the top but Rain keeps moving.

Yama is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Rain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yama defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Yama throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rain's waist but Rain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yama off to one side.

Rain closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Yama's guard.
Rain postures up in Yama's guard and throws a big left but Yama blocks it.
Rain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rain in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Yama wants to sweep but no luck.
Yama is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rain lands a couple of digs.
Rain wants to pass the guard but Yama is keeping the position.

Yama lands a decent punch to the body there.
Yama has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rain has passed into side control.

Rain is trying to get an arm triangle but Yama is defending well.
Yama is looking to reverse the position.

Rain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yama keeps working.
Yama is looking for a sweep.
Yama takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Yama is trying to control Rain's posture but Rain avoids it.

Rain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yama, who protects the arm well.
Yama is trying to get back to half guard.

Rain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Yama takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rain throws a strike aimed at the side of Yama's head but Yama avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dew Rain dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Yama has momentary wrist control but Rain slips an elbow through the middle.

Rain loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rain is looking to work some ground and pound but Yama has wrist control.
Rain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Yama has his hands on Rain's head, controlling the position.
Rain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rain stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rain wants it to stay on the feet.

Yama tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yama has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rain is refusing to be controlled, as Yama sits in half guard.
Rain regains full guard. Nicely done.
Yama won't allow Rain to sweep him here.
Yama trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Yama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rain has his foot on Yama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yama works his way back into a safe position though.

Rain wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Well Rain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
