Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ippo Makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole comes to the cage accompanied by Michael Cole's Entrance music. Ippo Makunouchi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ippo Makunouchi!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole misses with a takedown attempt - Makunouchi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cole just misses with a punch to the body.
Makunouchi swings for the body but Cole moves out of range.
Cole takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Makunouchi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Makunouchi in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Makunouchi is putting a hurting on Cole here, landing some big shots from side control.
Cole avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Makunouchi.
Makunouchi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Makunouchi in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makunouchi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Makunouchi is trying to ground and pound but Cole uses the momentary lack of control by Makunouchi to regain half guard.
Makunouchi is keen to just control but Cole is a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cole has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Makunouchi. Oh but Cole has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Makunouchi goes limp - he's gone! Cole jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
