Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Shimazu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaakko Parantainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parantainen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gasellit - Ime Huiluu . Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, William Shimazu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jaakko Parantainen!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Shimazu.

Parantainen shoots in and bounces Shimazu off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Parantainen wants to control from the top but Shimazu keeps moving.
Shimazu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Parantainen trying to control but Shimazu is working from the bottom.
Parantainen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jaakko Parantainen has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Parantainen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shimazu's guard.
Parantainen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Parantainen looking to sit in guard and control but Shimazu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Parantainen pulls Shimazu in close to his closed guard and prevents Shimazu from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shimazu is looking to stand up but Parantainen won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shimazu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shimazu throws an elbow that misses. Parantainen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shimazu's guard. Nice move by Parantainen!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parantainen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Parantainen tries to stand but Shimazu is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Parantainen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shimazu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Parantainen wants to pass the guard but Shimazu is keeping the position.
Shimazu keeping moving, preventing Parantainen from controlling successfully.
Shimazu wants to sweep but no luck.

Shimazu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Parantainen is aware though and is defending well.
Shimazu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parantainen is one step ahead there.
Shimazu is working hard here to advance position.

Parantainen landing some decent shots from guard.
Parantainen stays in close to Shimazu's body and controls the position.
Parantainen throwing strikes but missing.
Parantainen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Shimazu looking to control.
Parantainen tries to free his leg and advance position but Shimazu is retaining full guard.
Parantainen chips away with some ground and pound.
Parantainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Parantainen trying to control the position from guard on top but Shimazu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shimazu has momentary wrist control but Parantainen slips an elbow through the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Parantainen wants to control from the top but Shimazu keeps moving.

Shimazu looking for a guillotine here but Parantainen defends easily.
Parantainen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Shimazu trying to keep a closed guard but Parantainen is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shimazu looking for a sweep. Not yet Shimazu, not yet.
Parantainen stands up over Shimazu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaakko Parantainen dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Good standup being displayed there by Parantainen as he connects with a hook.
Parantainen tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab from Shimazu misses.
Shimazu misses the shot to the body.

Parantainen clinches up with Shimazu and pushes him back against the cage.

Parantainen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Shimazu uses from the top position.
Shimazu preventing the sweep.
Shimazu is looking to work some ground and pound but Parantainen has wrist control.
Parantainen is pulling down on Shimazu's head. It's preventing any offense from Shimazu, at least for the moment.
Parantainen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Shimazu is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shimazu is looking to improve his position but Parantainen isn't that keen on the idea.
Shimazu takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Parantainen has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shimazu's face.
Parantainen landing strikes, looking to finish!


Shimazu is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parantainen drops a big elbow. That's hurt Shimazu! More shots from Parantainen and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jaakko Parantainen!
A very excited looking Jaakko Parantainen made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
