PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenik Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by Kanye West - I Don't Like (Remix) Feat. Pusha T, Chief Keef, Big Sean, & J. Khan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mr. Crowley kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Brandon Hunter has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lenik Khan!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter lands with a nice body punch.
Khan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hunter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Khan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hunter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khan tries to avoid it but Hunter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khan to the ground. Khan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hunter throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Hunter checks the leg kick nicely there.
Khan throws a leg kick
and Hunter counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Khan takes the fight into the clinch.

Khan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunter circles away.
Khan blocks a head kick by Hunter.

Khan moves into the clinch successfully.

Hunter pulls Khan into guard.
Khan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Khan postures up.
Khan working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hunter trying to control the position.
Hunter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khan's guard.

Khan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hunter controls the pace.
Khan wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling him.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Khan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Khan wants to stand and escape but Hunter is having none of it.
Hunter controlling from the top position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brandon Hunter.
Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Khan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hunter's knee momentarily.

Khan moves into the clinch.
Hunter has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hunter fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khan is trying to force a seperation but Hunter has the dominant position.
Hunter trying to land knees to the body.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Khan has had enough of the clinch but Hunter keeps him there for the moment.
Hunter has Khan pressed against the cage, preventing Khan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Khan gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Khan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Khan throws a leg kick
and Hunter counters with a two punch combo.

Hunter moves into the clinch successfully.
Hunter tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hunter tries to break the clinch but Khan is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hunter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Khan scores a takedown into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lenik Khan will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Lenik Khan's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hunter wants to clinch up but Khan keeps it at a distance.

Hunter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Khan content to stall in guard here.
Khan wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Khan throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hunter keeping full guard, as Khan tries to pass.
Hunter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Khan wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lenik Khan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hunter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Khan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hunter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khan is fending him off so far but Hunter persists. Nope, Khan circles away and we're back to standing.
Hunter looks to land a right hand but Khan moved out of range.
Khan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hunter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Khan is looking to chop away at Hunter's legs.

Khan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hunter to the ground. Khan is now in Hunter's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hunter's head.
Hunter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hunter wants to stand but Khan is controlling the position.
Khan throws a big elbow that misses.
Hunter is trying to control the position but Khan postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Khan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hunter throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Khan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Khan.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Khan blocks a head kick by Hunter.
Khan takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Khan dives in and scores a takedown into Hunter's guard.
Khan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Khan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Khan wants to pass the guard but Hunter is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lenik Khan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Hunter dodges the punch combination from Khan.
Hunter has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunter circles away.

Khan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunter but Hunter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hunter throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Khan throws a lazy head kick

and Hunter counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Hunter fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Hunter manages to break the clinch.
Hunter fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunter slips under a jab from Khan.

Hunter darts in and clinches Khan up against the cage.
Hunter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hunter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Hunter lands an elbow that stopped Khan in his tracks for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hunter breaks from the clinch.
Khan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hunter swivels and escapes.
Khan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hunter.
Hunter misses with a takedown

and Khan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hunter!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Khan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khan is trying to control here but Hunter has managed to regain half guard.
Khan content to control rather than advance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Khan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lenik Khan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Khan stands up from half guard.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Khan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hunter!

And that's the end of the fight!
Lenik Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Khan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
