PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martin Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Draco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Martin Cash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tony Draco!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cash tries to close the distance and clinch up but Draco swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cash fails in his attempt to clinch.

Draco has closed the distance and engaged Cash in a clinch.
Draco gets underhooks to prevent Cash's takedown attempt.
Draco lands a right hand.
Cash with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Cash misses with a knee to the head.
Draco lands a left hand.
Draco manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Draco lands a left hand.
Draco stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Cash jumps guard and drags Draco to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Draco's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cash is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cash utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Draco landing some decent shots from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Draco wanted to stand there but Cash had control of the position.
Cash tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Draco in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cash working for a triangle but Draco defends it easily.
Cash looking for a sweep. Not yet Cash, not yet.
Draco wanted to stand there but Cash had control of the position.
Draco lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Draco loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Draco tries to free his leg and advance position but Cash is retaining full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cash is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cash bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Draco's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cash drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cash jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cash pushes down on Draco's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Draco is trying to maintain the position but Cash is very close to passing his half guard.
Draco is trying to stand up here but Cash is controlling him well.

Cash is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cash is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cash trying to pass the guard but Draco defending well.
Cash is trying to control. Draco wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Cash is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Draco is just riding it out for now. Cash eventually gives up the hold.
Cash passes to side control.
Cash tries to advance to mount but can't.
Draco wants to get back to his feet but Cash drags him back down.

Cash in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Draco is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Martin Cash!
Our winner, Martin Cash, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
