Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Genral Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cray Willams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genral Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cray Willams!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Lee is predictable there

and Willams counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Willams got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Willams has managed to get both his arms back between Lee's legs - danger averted.

Lee has his foot on Willams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Willams works his way back into a safe position though.

Lee looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Willams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lee is proving hard to escape from.

Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Willams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Willams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Willams wants to get up but he can't break Lee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

and Willams counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Willams counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A low kick from Lee is predictable there
and Willams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lee throws a leg kick
and Lee takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lee thows a leg kick but Willams checks it
and Willams counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lee wants to land a leg kick but Willams is out of range.

Lee walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Willams checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Lee walks into a left hand.
Lee thows a leg kick but Willams checks it
and Willams counters with a nice uppercut.
Lee throws a leg kick that misses.

Willams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lee sprawls well initially but Willams persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Willams decides to return to a standing position.
Willams shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee throws a leg kick
and Willams counters with a nice body shot.
Lee just misses with a punch to the body.
Lee tries to score with a low kick but Willams moves his leg out of the way.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Willams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Lee misses with a hook to the body

and Willams counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Willams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Willams's back!
Willams has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Lee.
Lee is landing with strikes. Willams can't take much more of this.
Lee misses with punches from the back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Willams finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.
Willams squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cray Willams dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lee misses with a leg kick.
Willams throws a head kick that Lee semi-blocks.
Lee throws a low kick but Willams avoids it.
Lee avoids the body shot from Willams.
Willams shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely.
Willams stalks Lee and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lee's face. Lee staggers backwards, shaken.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lee defending well as Willams loads up on a big left hand.
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Willams moves away.
No luck for Willams with that takedown attempt.

Willams blocks a jab.
A low kick from Lee misses
and Willams counters with a slapping leg kick.
Willams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lee.
A punch lands to the side of Lee 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Willams doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lee counters with a leg kick.
Genral Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cray Willams.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Willams loads up on a big right hand but Lee slips the punch.
Lee thows a body shot but no joy.
Lee misses with a leg kick
letting Willams counter with a right hand.
Willams looks to land a combination but Lee avoids it well.
An inside leg kick from Lee misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Willams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lee attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nice sprawl there from Lee as Willams shoots in.
Willams is breathing heavily.
Willams misses with a looping left.
Cray Willams seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Willams slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Willams looks for a takedown but Lee sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cray Willams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Willams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Willams persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.

Lee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Lee swings for the body but Willams moves out of range.

and Willams counters with a right hand to the body.
Willams scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Lee is looking to wear down Willams with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Willams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Willams persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
Genral Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cray Willams.

and Willams connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Willams keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Lee walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Willams checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Lee throws a leg kick but Willams sees it coming and moves out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Willams checks a leg kick.

Lee misses with a low kick.
Willams has a takedown stuffed.
Lee throws a leg kick but Willams moved away.
Cray Willams is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Willams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Genral Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Willams misses with a two punch combination.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Genral Lee.
Well Willams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
