Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gunner King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikito Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King comes to the ring accompanied by Raise Hell. Gunner King could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mikito Akiyama's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gunner King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikito Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akiyama darts in and clinches King up against the ropes.
King can't find room to land a body shot as Akiyama controls the action.

Akiyama drags the fight down to the ground.
Akiyama keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Akiyama on the ground.
King throws a strike but Akiyama rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
King pulls Akiyama in close to prevent any damage.
Akiyama wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
King on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if King tries to get out of the position.

King manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
King avoids the attempt from Akiyama to control.
King tries to control but Akiyama wriggling away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

King jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Akiyama is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Akiyama and King has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

King looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

King landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Akiyama takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Akiyama is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.
Akiyama is looking to work his way out of this bad position but King is controlling him well.

King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akiyama keeps working.
Akiyama is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Akiyama looks to move to half guard but instead King has passed into mount! Damn!
King tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

King is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Akiyama has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Akiyama!
King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

King avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Akiyama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
King looking to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King striking off his back but it's not causing Akiyama any problems.
King controls Akiyama momentarily but Akiyama frees himself.

Akiyama thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Akiyama gets a double leg takedown into King's guard.
King controls Akiyama momentarily but Akiyama frees himself.

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Akiyama thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Akiyama trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Akiyama is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

King isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Akiyama stacks King on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Akiyama!
King is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

King is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Akiyama is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Akiyama is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, King has escaped the position, nice work there.

Akiyama thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
King tries to improve position but can't.

King is looking to regain half guard here but Akiyama keeps moving and retains side control.
Akiyama fails to land a wild elbow strike.
King is looking for a sweep.
Akiyama trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.

Akiyama goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, King has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Akiyama but great work by King.

King is putting a hurting on Akiyama here, landing some big shots from side control.
King wants to control for a moment but Akiyama uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
King wants to pass to mount but Akiyama is defending the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

King seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mikito Akiyama will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Akiyama closes the distance and clinches.
King is trying to force a seperation but Akiyama has the dominant position.
King takes a knee right on the jaw!
Akiyama unloads a knee to the mid-section. King lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
King can't find room to land a body shot as Akiyama controls the action.
King has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Akiyama after a bit of a struggle.
King is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Knees in the clinch landing for Akiyama.
Akiyama is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Akiyama obliges.

King is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Akiyama can't fight it off and eventually King manages to take the fight to the floor. Akiyama looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

We're going to have a standup here because Gunner King wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Akiyama rushes King and presses him up against the ropes.
King wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Akiyama has him pressed against the ropes.
King looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
King tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Akiyama's elbow.
King tries for a takedown but Akiyama manages to get underhooks.
Akiyama looking to throw knees to the head but King is blocking nicely.
Akiyama wants to stall.
King struggles to land a body shot inside as Akiyama controls his hands.
Akiyama stops a takedown attempt from King.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunner King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Akiyama gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

King is trying to maintain a safe position but Akiyama gets an underhook and turns King into the ropes.

Akiyama has dropped down and is working for a takedown. King is trying to keep an underhook but Akiyama manages to get the takedown into half guard.
King won't allow Akiyama to pass to mount.

Akiyama is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
King is not content to let Akiyama control the position.
King is looking for a sweep. Akiyama is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
King is pressing down on Akiyama's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
King trying to keep a closed guard but Akiyama is proving a slippery customer.
Akiyama wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.

Akiyama trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Akiyama stands up out of King's guard for a moment - King manages to land a nice upkick.

Akiyama drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Akiyama seems to have locked his on tight now - King screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Akiyama, as he picks up the win!
