PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harold Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ray comes to the cage accompanied by GLADIATOR THEME. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Ray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Harold Kumar!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kumar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ray drops his shoulder and cracks Kumar with a huge uppercut! Kumar goes down! Can Ray finish him?


Kumar is rocked!
Kumar being controlled here, momentarily.
Kumar is still in real trouble! Can Ray finish him?
Ray wants to stand but Kumar is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kumar seems to have recovered his senses.
Ray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ray stands and steps away. Kumar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kumar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ray lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Kumar sprawling to the canvas. Ray follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Kumar hang on?
Ray wants to pass to mount but Kumar is defending the position.
Ray takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kumar is looking to improve his position.

Kumar is looking for a sweep. Ray is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ray content to control rather than advance.
Kumar is looking to improve his position.
Ray wants to stand but Kumar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Kumar is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ray scores with a hook.

Nice shot lands for Ray.
Kumar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Kumar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ray holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Ray wants to get back to full guard.
Ray keeping hold of Kumar's head, controlling as best he can.
Ray has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ray's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ray pushes Kumar off and gets back to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ray scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kumar doesn't seem bothered though.
Ray lands a lovely overhand right.
Ray clobbers Kumar with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ray lands a with a good body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ray's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Ray duly obliges.
Kumar takes one to the side of the head.
A big right from Ray misses.
Kumar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ray.
Ray misses with a two punch combination.
Ray slow jab from Kumar misses its intended target.
Ray is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kumar pushes Ray up against the cage in a clinch.
Ray wants to break free but Kumar has control.
Kumar swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ray is trying to break free.

Ray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roman Ray dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ray throws a right hand that Kumar ducks under and follows up with a left that Kumar also avoids with ease.
Ray misses with a hook.
Kumar keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A jab-cross combination lands for Ray and sends Kumar crashing to the mat! Ray follows him down to the mat - Kumar regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Kumar is looking for a sweep. Ray is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray is thwarting Kumar's attempts to control the position.
Kumar tries to roll over but Ray keeps him under control.
Kumar is breathing heavily.

Ray postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kumar to stand up.

Kumar gets a clinch.
Kumar tries to pull guard but Ray won't allow it.
Kumar keeps control of Ray as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Ray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ray moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kumar tries for a takedown but Ray sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ray listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Ray lands a left and a right that sends Kumar crashing to the canvas! Ray dives into mount looking to finish!
Ray tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Roman Ray just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Ray lands a lovely overhand right.
Kumar misses with a straight left.
Roman Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good shot there by Ray.
Kumar takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ray's corner calls for a 1-2. Ray obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Roman Ray is winning the standup battle so far.
Kumar shoots for a double leg takedown but Ray sprawls well. He's pushed Kumar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Roman Ray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Kumar.
Kumar drops his hands momentarily and Ray takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ray lands a jab to Kumar's midsection.
Ray lands a hook that stumbles Kumar back into the cage. Ray follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Kumar to the canvas! Ray pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Kumar has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Roman Ray!
