The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vinicius dives in and scores a takedown into Caldas's guard.

Caldas has his foot on Vinicius's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vinicius works his way back into a safe position though.

Vinicius throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Caldas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vinicius is trying to buck Caldas off.

Vinicius is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Vinicius is staying active underneath Caldas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Caldas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vinicius is just riding it out for now. Caldas eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caldas is breathing heavily.
