PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rony Mariano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Anastasia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mariano comes to the cage accompanied by So Far Away. Anastasia comes into a darkened arena with his song building. hellrazor kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mariano takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Anastasia counters with a stiff right hand.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Anastasia, as that shot connected.

Mariano gets tackled into the cage by Anastasia. Anastasia maintains the clinch.
Anastasia lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mariano backwards.
Anastasia lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Mariano has Anastasia pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Anastasia manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Anastasia turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Anastasia manages to end up in side control.
Oh Mariano is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Anastasia decides to stand back up.
Mariano seems to have got his legs back now.
Albert Anastasia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anastasia cracks Mariano with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Anastasia misses with a head kick.
Anastasia moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mariano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Anastasia.

Anastasia gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Anastasia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mariano goes for a takedown attempt but Anastasia pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Anastasia fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mariano on the side of the head.
Mariano gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Anastasia gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Albert Anastasia! Albert Anastasia retains his featherweight title!
