PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mikkel Larsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Snozynsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Larsen comes to the cage accompanied by Super Furry Animals - 'Do or Die'. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikkel Larsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Snozynsky!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snozynsky tries for a takedown but Larsen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Snozynsky shoots in looking for a takedown. Larsen tries to sprawl out of it but Snozynsky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Larsen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Larsen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Snozynsky to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Snozynsky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Larsen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Snozynsky wants to pass the guard but Larsen is keeping the position.

Larsen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Snozynsky is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Larsen defends it well.

Larsen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Snozynsky is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Snozynsky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larsen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Snozynsky's calf.
Horrible takedown by Snozynsky or perhaps it was just good defense by Larsen which made him look bad.
Snozynsky dives in and grabs Larsen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Larsen pushes down on Snozynsky's head and hops out.

Larsen defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Snozynsky.
Larsen is squirming around, avoiding Snozynsky's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Larsen is looking to improve his position but Snozynsky isn't that keen on the idea.

Poor strikes thrown by Snozynsky there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Snozynsky looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Larsen is fending him off so far but Snozynsky persists. Nope, Larsen circles away and we're back to standing.

It looks like Max Snozynsky has been cut.
Snozynsky shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Larsen as he avoids it easily.

Larsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Snozynsky is looking to clinch but Larsen is avoiding it.

Larsen gets caught flat footed, as Snozynsky shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Snozynsky perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Snozynsky stalling away here and it's allowed Larsen to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Larsen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Snozynsky shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Larsen as he jumps to the side.
Mikkel Larsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Snozynsky.
Snozynsky takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Snozynsky blocks a head kick by Larsen.
Snozynsky fails in his attempt to clinch.
Snozynsky takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Snozynsky drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Snozynsky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Larsen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snozynsky has managed to get both his arms back between Larsen's legs - danger averted.
Mikkel Larsen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Max Snozynsky is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
