Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Saitou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Will DeFrank!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeFrank throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Saitou lands a glancing blow to the side of DeFrank's head.
DeFrank shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saitou sprawls well. Saitou wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DeFrank gets slowly back to his feet.
DeFrank thows a left - swing and a miss!
DeFrank takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
DeFrank fails in his attempt to clinch.
DeFrank tries to clinch but Saitou is having none of it.
The fight stays on the outside here - DeFrank looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Saitou scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Saitou shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. DeFrank eats them both and turns towards Saitou to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
DeFrank tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saitou was well out of range. Poor timing from DeFrank.
Saitou clinches up with DeFrank and pushes him back against the cage.
Saitou breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
DeFrank throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
DeFrank tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saitou paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Saitou keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
DeFrank tries to clinch up
and Saitou counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
DeFrank is looking to clinch but Saitou is avoiding it.
DeFrank thows a leg kick but Saitou checks it
and Saitou counters with a left and a right that stings DeFrank.
Saitou lands a left and a right that send DeFrank crashing to the mat, dazed. Saitou thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
DeFrank is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Saitou goes for a small jab and connects. Now Saitou goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! DeFrank stumbles back but Saitou runs in with a huge uppercut knocking DeFrank to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if DeFrank will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hiroyuki Saitou!
