PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Landers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Landers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dubois manages to avoid it.

Landers shoots in and bounces Dubois off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Landers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Dubois working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Landers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Landers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dubois throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Landers.

Maurice Dubois seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dubois throws a body punch but Landers moves out of range.
Dubois shoots in looking for a takedown but Landers manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dubois 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dubois throws a right hand that Landers ducks under and follows up with a left that Landers also avoids with ease.

Dubois will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dubois lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Landers circles away quickly and effectively.

Landers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dubois 's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dubois looking for a sweep. Not yet Dubois , not yet.
Landers throws a big right hand that misses.

Dubois is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Landers is aware though and is defending well.
Brock Landers has got the better of the ground game so far.

Landers decides to stand back up. Landers steps back and let's Dubois get back to his feet.
Landers wants to land a leg kick but Dubois is out of range.
Landers misses with a shot to the body
and Dubois counters with a series of strikes. Landers will be more careful next time no doubt.

Landers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dubois to the mat! Dubois manages to get full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Landers wants to control from the top but Dubois keeps moving.

Dubois is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dubois can't keep his opponent in guard - Landers advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Well, if Landers is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brock Landers was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Dubois on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dubois shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dubois showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Landers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Landers cracks Dubois with a big right hand but Dubois just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Dubois is looking to regain half guard here but Landers keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Landers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
