Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elbrys Gora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Vasilyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gora might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cadillac Records - Howlin' Wolf Sings . Vasilyev has chosen Ghost Town as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Elbrys Gora!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viktor Vasilyev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gora bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vasilyev parries the strikes from Gora easily there. Gora is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Vasilyev to escape.
Vasilyev tries to bench press Gora off him but Gora keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gora in side control, throwing shots but Vasilyev defends.
Gora tries to advance to mount but can't.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Gora tries for a kimura but Vasilyev is defending well.
Vasilyev is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gora off and has taken his back!

Gora defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Vasilyev's arms.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vasilyev is not going to allow Gora to sit and survive in this position.
Gora breaks Vasilyev's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Gora trying to control the position from guard on top but Vasilyev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vasilyev can't keep his opponent in guard - Gora advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Vasilyev makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vasilyev.
Gora tries to free his leg and advance position but Vasilyev is retaining full guard.

Vasilyev is looking to sweep but instead, Gora has passed into half guard.
Gora is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Vasilyev is looking to improve his position.
Gora is thwarting Vasilyev's attempts to control the position.
Vasilyev wants to improve his position but Gora is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gora thows a huge punch but Vasilyev dodges it nicely.

Gora has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Vasilyev tries to hold on but Gora pushes him away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gora trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Vasilyev defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gora.
Vasilyev can't escape the position.

Gora is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vasilyev has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Gora is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vasilyev can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gora is working for a guillotine from mount but Vasilyev frees his head quite easily.
Vasilyev is squirming around, avoiding Gora's attempts to control the action.
Vasilyev is working to get back to half guard.

Gora is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vasilyev has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Gora is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vasilyev to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vasilyev shrugs it off.
Vasilyev is in all sorts of trouble here.
Gora connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gora cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Gora goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Vasilyev is on top in guard.
Gora wants to sweep but no luck.

Vasilyev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gora has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vasilyev has managed to get both his arms back between Gora's legs - danger averted.

Gora has his foot on Vasilyev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vasilyev works his way back into a safe position though.
Gora might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gora is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vasilyev is aware though and is defending well.

Gora looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gora manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Vasilyev.
Vasilyev looks to throw the jab but Gora is out of range.
Gora lands a nice hook to Vasilyev's body. Vasilyev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Gora stuffs the takedown.

Vasilyev fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gora to the ground. Vasilyev is now in Gora's guard.
Vasilyev wants to control from the top but Gora keeps moving.
Gora tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gora is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vasilyev is aware though and is defending well.
Gora bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vasilyev's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vasilyev lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gora!

Vasilyev is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gora has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gora!

Gora sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vasilyev's guard.

Gora is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vasilyev has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gora is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Vasilyev!

Gora throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Vasilyev has his hands clasped together but Gora breaks the hold and Vasilyev is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gora!
