Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cody Thunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cody Thunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Georges Pierre !
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Pierre as Thunders shoots in.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Thunders checks a leg kick.
Pierre tries for a takedown but Thunders circles away easily
and Thunders counters with a right hand to the body.
No luck for Thunders with that takedown attempt.
Thunders tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pierre sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thunders somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cody Thunders. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thunders clinches.

Thunders manages to break the clinch.
Pierre looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thunders is fending him off so far but Pierre persists. Nope, Thunders circles away and we're back to standing.
Pierre leaves Thunders with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pierre wants to clinch.

Pierre dives in and grabs Thunders's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thunders pushes down on Pierre 's head and hops out.
A punch combination from Pierre misses.
Pierre swinging wildly here.

Pierre fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thunders, pushing him back against the cage.
Pierre is trying to drag Thunders to the mat but Thunders just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Pierre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pierre darts in and clinches Thunders up against the cage.

Thunders jumps guard and drags Pierre to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Pierre won't allow Thunders to get back to his feet.
Thunders is trying to control the position but Pierre postures up.
Pierre preventing the sweep.
Pierre is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pierre trying to control but Thunders is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Georges Pierre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Thunders tries a head kick but it misses.
Thunders looks to score with a jab to the body but Pierre is just out of range.
Pierre stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pierre wants it to stay on the feet.

Thunders tries to close the distance and clinch but Pierre swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Some wild striking there from Thunders.
Pierre fails to land the takedown.
Pierre shoots in looking for a takedown. Thunders tries to sprawl out of it but Pierre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thunders manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A head kick misses from Thunders.
Thunders is breathing heavily.

Pierre rushes Thunders and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pierre has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thunders is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Thunders manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thunders wants to stand but Pierre is controlling the position.
Thunders looking to control.
Pierre sitting in guard here, content to control.
Pierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thunders is keeping the position for now.
Thunders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thunders escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pierre prevents Thunders from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cody Thunders will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pierre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Thunders fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cody Thunders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Thunders throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pierre buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Thunders shoots in for a takedown but Pierre shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Thunders circles away from the clinch attempt.

Thunders fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pierre , pushing him back against the cage.
Thunders tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pierre just stands there and leans against the cage.
Thunders stalling in the clinch but Pierre improves position.
Pierre stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Pierre continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Thunders displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pierre .
Pierre thumps Thunders with a low kick.
Pierre punishes Thunders's body with a nice straight punch.
Pierre misses with an attempted mid kick.
A big left from Thunders misses.

Pierre rushes Thunders and presses him up against the cage.
Thunders prevents the takedown attempt.
Cody Thunders has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georges Pierre .

Thunders is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Pierre pulls Thunders into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thunders preventing the sweep.
Thunders trying to control but Pierre is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pierre wants to get back to his feet but Thunders is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georges Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Thunders moves in looking to clinch but Pierre pushes him off.
Pierre misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pierre throws a series of punches but Thunders avoids them all with ease.
Thunders misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Thunders fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pierre avoids it really well and circles away.
Pierre avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thunders swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pierre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Thunders manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Pierre is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Thunders lands an elbow just above Pierre 's eye.
Pierre fails to pull guard.
Thunders wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Thunders breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pierre connects with a body shot.

Thunders looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Pierre trying to get back to full guard but Thunders takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Pierre is desperately trying to improve his position but Thunders has a good base and remains in mount.
Pierre is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Thunders trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Thunders has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pierre 's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thunders looking to control but Pierre is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pierre tries to reverse the position but Thunders maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cody Thunders.
I think Thunders has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
