The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Paska.
Yoshi Sushi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Paska closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Paska.
Sushi fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sushi tries to pull guard but Paska won't allow it.

Sushi jumps into guard, dragging Paska to the mat.

Sushi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Paska is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sushi.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sushi has eaten all the pies!

Sushi is trying to work for a sweep but Paska has mounted him!

Paska has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Arska Paska just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Paska drives through with a takedown into guard.
Paska slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sushi wants to sweep but no luck.

Sushi is looking for a triangle here but Paska uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Paska wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sushi keeps working.
Paska staying calm.

Arska Paska dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sushi fails with the takedown

and Paska holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Paska as the two fighters clinch.

Sushi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Paska is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sushi to the mat. Sushi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Sushi crunches a lovely knee into Paska's ribcage.
Paska digs a right hand underneath Sushi's ribcage. Sushi let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Sushi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Arska Paska has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshi Sushi.

Sushi wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sushi jumps guard and drags Paska to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Paska takes a little break here. Sushi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Paska here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Sushi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Paska is looking to take a break and control but Sushi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
