PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nice Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thai has chosen The Art of 8 Limbs as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nice Guy has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nice Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Muay Thai!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guy has Thai up against the cage in a clinch.
Thai gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Guy.
Guy misses with an elbow over the top.
Guy tries to circle away but Thai has him pinned against the cage.
Guy tries to circle away but Thai has him pinned against the cage.
Thai can't break the clinch.
Thai is looking to control Guy's arms but Guy gets an underhook and turns him. Now Thai has his back to the cage.
Thai is trying to break free.
Thai wants to break the clinch but can't.
Guy tries to score a body lock takedown but Thai shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Guy is trying to pull guard but Thai turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nice Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Guy is trying to break the clinch but Thai has him pressed against the cage.
Thai wants to get back to striking at distance but Guy won't allow it.
Thai looking to slow down the pace here.
Thai wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Thai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Guy blocks it with crossed arms.
Guy tries a knee to the head but Thai blocks it.
Guy misses with a short punch on the inside.
Thai working hard to break the clinch.
Come on Guy - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Thai prevents Guy from breaking the clinch.
Thai wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Thai tries to break free but Guy pushes him back against the cage.
Guy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Thai's efforts to push away.
Thai has had enough of the clinch but Guy keeps him there for the moment.
Thai lands a nice uppercut.
Thai wants to get back to striking at distance but Guy won't allow it.

Thai breaks the clinch.

Guy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thai trying to control but Guy postures up.
Guy scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Thai makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thai.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Guy won't allow Thai to sweep him here.
Thai is trying to keep Guy in close.

Guy looking to sit in guard and control but Thai gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Thai pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Guy is keeping the position for now.
Guy has his hands on Thai's head, controlling the position.
Guy working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thai stands up and waves to Guy to follow him.
Thai lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Thai lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A nice leg kick lands there from Thai.
Guy is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thai lands with a big left! Guy is wobbled badly! Thai comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Guy to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Muay Thai!
