And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jo El!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
El misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bruce with a nice cross.
Bruce fakes high and swings low for a body shot but El manages to avoid it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Bruce darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bruce tries to close the distance and clinch up but El swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bruce wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Bruce shoots in for a takedown but El shows good takedown defense.
El wants to land a leg kick but Bruce is out of range.

Bruce ducks down and throws a hook to the body but El moves away.
Bruce swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bruce throws a right and a left that El avoids nicely.
Bruce tries to clinch up but El circles away and keeps his distance.

El shoots in for a takedown but Bruce shows good takedown defense.
Simon Bruce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bruce is pushing El up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Bruce tries to throw a body punch but El avoids it by throwing Bruce back against the cage.

El is trying to break the clinch but Bruce has him pressed against the cage.
Bruce blocks an uppercut.
Bruce makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Bruce lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
El managing to block the knees to the body from Bruce.

El wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bruce has him pressed against the cage.
Bruce has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by El after a bit of a struggle.

Bruce tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and El avoids it.
El blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Bruce tries to work over El's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
El tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bruce smiles and moves away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bruce jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
El gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Bruce just misses with a punch to the body.
El throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bruce shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. El eats them both and turns towards Bruce to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A jab lands there for Bruce.
Bruce lands with a nice combination. El backs away looking to recover.
Bruce lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
El is trying desperately to land a takedown but Bruce is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for El.
Bruce moves out of range of the body kick from El.
The crowd cheers as Bruce lands an impressive looking overhand right. El doesn't seem phased though.
Bruce avoids the head kick by El.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bruce!

Bruce moves into the clinch successfully.
El has had enough of the clinch but Bruce keeps him there for the moment.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
El is in trouble now - Bruce has advanced to mount!

El is rocked!


That has opened up Jo El's cut even more.
Bruce is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and El goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Bruce!
