Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karlinho Solove!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 95 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kiwi Bird!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Solove lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Solove breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Solove lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Solove shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bird napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Solove stands up.
Bird gets caught napping as Solove dives in and scores a takedown. Bird manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Solove controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bird is working an open guard so Solove takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Solove decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bird is defending against the submission attempts here by Solove.
Bird should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Solove stands up from half guard.
Solove drives through and clinches with Bird against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bird tries to break free but Solove pushes him back against the cage.
Solove pulls guard successfully.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bird is fighting to break Solove's control of his arms but Solove is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Solove is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Solove really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Solove has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Bird regains guard immediately.
Solove controlling from the top position.
Solove pushing down on Bird's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bird avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Solove.
Solove passes to full mount!
Solove will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Solove quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Solove but it's paid off an Bird is forced to tap! Nice work by Solove.
