Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Svetz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Svetz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Colt!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Svetz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Svetz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Colt was well out of range. Poor timing from Svetz.

Colt gets the takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Colt tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Svetz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Colt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Svetz is not content to let Colt control the position.
Colt tries to advance to mount but Svetz instead regains half guard.
Colt seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Svetz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Colt looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colt is keen to just control but Svetz is a slippery customer.
Svetz is looking to improve his position.
Svetz is controlling Colt's trapped leg to prevent Colt from advancing to side control.
Colt thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Svetz's head.
Svetz is looking for a sweep. Colt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Svetz won't allow Colt to pass to mount.
Colt stops Svetz from getting back to his feet.
Svetz is concentrating on defense, preventing Colt from advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Svetz enables Colt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Svetz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Svetz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Colt stands up from Svetz's guard - Colt perhaps looking for a knockout.

Colt tries to sprawl but Svetz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Svetz tries to stand but can't do so whilst Colt controls his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Svetz is breathing heavily.
Colt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Svetz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Colt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Svetz has managed to get both his arms back between Colt's legs - danger averted.
Colt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Svetz is desperately trying to improve his position but Colt has a good base and remains in mount.
Colt dominating with strikes here.
Colt wants to control the pace but Svetz is squirming around nicely.
Svetz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Colt tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Colt is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Svetz has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Colt lands a heavy elbow.
Colt looking to ground and pound but Svetz is blocking nicely.

Colt is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Svetz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Colt looking to control but Svetz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Colt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Colt sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Colt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Svetz is looking to escape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roman Colt dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Colt has his takedown stuffed
and Svetz counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Colt is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Svetz throws a leg kick but Colt checks it.
Colt shoots in for a double leg but Svetz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Svetz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Colt.
Josh Svetz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Colt.
Svetz misses with a head kick.
Svetz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Colt was well out of range. Poor timing from Svetz.
Colt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Svetz sprawls well. Svetz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Colt gets slowly back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Svetz.
Svetz tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Svetz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Colt is breathing heavily.
Colt can't do much from the bottom here.

Svetz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Svetz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Svetz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Colt down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Colt struggling a bit here.
Svetz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Colt keeps working.

Svetz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Svetz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Colt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Svetz gets underhooks to prevent Colt's takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colt is trying to drag Svetz to the mat but Svetz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Colt successfully pulls guard.
Svetz's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Svetz tries to free his leg and advance position but Colt is retaining full guard.
Svetz throws a big elbow that misses.
Svetz trying to control but Colt is working from the bottom.
Colt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Svetz sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Svetz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Josh Svetz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Colt dives in and grabs Svetz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Svetz pushes down on Colt's head and hops out.
Svetz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Colt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Svetz counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Colt is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Svetz fails in his attempt to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Svetz sizes up Colt with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Nice straight punches there by Svetz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Svetz.
Colt walks into a straight right hand from Svetz.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Svetz dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Colt is trying to control Svetz's posture but Svetz avoids it.
Colt is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Svetz has knee on belly momentarily but Colt bucks him off and regains half guard.
Colt preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Svetz escapes and gets back to his feet.
Colt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Svetz gets a double leg takedown into Colt's guard.

Colt working for submissions but it's allowed Svetz to get to half guard.
Svetz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Svetz is trying to control the action in half guard but Colt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Svetz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Colt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Colt works his way to full guard. Good work.
Svetz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Svetz wants to pass the guard but Colt is keeping the position.
Colt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Colt scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Svetz?
Svetz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Colt on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Svetz wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Svetz is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Colt has the hooks in. Svetz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Colt has got one arm under Svetz's chin. This could be trouble... Svetz trying to control the other hand but Colt gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Svetz has tapped out! The fight is over!
