The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanson misses the body punch
and Lowel counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Hanson shoots in for a takedown but Lowel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wiliam Lowel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lowel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hanson avoids it really well and circles away.
Lowel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hanson swats away the attempt to clinch by Lowel.
Hanson tries to bum rush Lowel with a series of wild strikes but Lowel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hanson looks gassed!
Lowel dives in and grabs Hanson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hanson pushes down on Lowel's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wiliam Lowel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A head kick misses from Hanson.

Hanson closes the distance and clinches.

Lowel pulls guard effortlessly.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lowel wants to sweep but no luck.

Lowel trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Lowel working for submissions but it's allowed Hanson to get to half guard.
Lowel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hanson is working away from the top position though.
Hanson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lowel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lowel wants to get back to full guard.

Lowel is trying to maintain the position but Hanson is very close to passing his half guard.

Anthony Hanson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A punch combination from Lowel misses.
Lowel tries for a takedown but Hanson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lowel lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hanson takes a step back to recover.
Lowel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lowel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hanson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hanson gets tackled into the cage by Lowel. Lowel maintains the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Hanson jumps guard but Lowel turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lowel is looking to take this one to the mat.
Lowel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Lowel drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hanson pushes down on Lowel's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hanson stands up and beckons Lowel to join him on the feet.

Lowel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hanson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lowel drives through and clinches with Hanson against the cage.
Lowel stalls.

Hanson pulls guard successfully.

Lowel is posturing up here but Hanson has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Lowel tries to roll out but it's too tight and Lowel has to tap! Slick submission there by Hanson!

Anthony Hanson decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
