Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack The Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gray Son!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Ripper misses with a right hand
and Son counters with a thumping low kick.
The Ripper shoots in for a takedown but Son shows good takedown defense.
Son shoots in and bounces The Ripper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The Ripper has an active guard here but Son has managed to pass into half guard.
Son is thwarting The Ripper's attempts to control the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Son in particular looking to stall.
The Ripper trying to hold on to Son's head to control him but Son postures up.
The Ripper tries to roll over but Son keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Son looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The Ripper is looking for a sweep. Son is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Son is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for The Ripper!
Son content just to control the position here.
It looks like Son might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The Ripper tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Son sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Son tries to control but The Ripper wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gray Son.
The Ripper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Son's waist but Son gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing The Ripper off to one side.
Son's corner calls for a 1-2. Son obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The Ripper stalks Son and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Son's face. Son staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The Ripper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Son circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack The Ripper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Son rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but The Ripper moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Son scores with a crisp jab that stopped The Ripper in his tracks.
Son lands a left and a right that send The Ripper crashing to the mat, dazed. Son thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
The Ripper is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Son is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches The Ripper flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! The Ripper is out cold! Son holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gray Son!
