Shonuck has chosen Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down as his entrance music. Tristin Shonuck will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puempel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shonuck moves away.
Shonuck misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Puempel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shonuck sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Puempel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shonuck drops back looking for a leg! Puempel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Puempel manages to kick Shonuck off! Shonuck jumps back into Puempel's guard.

Shonuck slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puempel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tristin Shonuck hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Puempel loads up on a big right hand but Shonuck slips the punch.
Shonuck stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Puempel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Shonuck counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Puempel is breathing heavily.
Shonuck fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Puempel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shonuck lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Puempel circles away quickly and effectively.

Puempel is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Shonuck Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Puempel is out cold, face down on the mat!

Tristin Shonuck really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Crippler's Corner logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
