The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.

Rothsilva lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Johnson tries to clinch but Rothsilva moves out of range.
Rothsilva misses with a two punch combination.

Rothsilva is standing up over Johnson. Johnson looks to escape but Rothsilva dives into side control.

Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rothsilva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rothsilva is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rothsilva to get the leverage.

Rothsilva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johnson defends it well.
Rothsilva blocks the strikes from Johnson.

Rothsilva is looking for submissions but instead, Johnson has regained full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rothsilva wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Johnson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rothsilva has picked Johnson up and slammed him! Johnson can't keep hold of the triangle and Rothsilva manages to pass to side control!

Rothsilva tries for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.

Rothsilva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Johnson gets back to half guard.
Johnson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rothsilva's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rothsilva's back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rothsilva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rothsilva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Johnson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rothsilva has him pressed against the cage.
Johnson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rothsilva gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Johnson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Johnson has had enough of the clinch but Rothsilva keeps him there for the moment.

Johnson tries to bum rush Rothsilva with a series of wild strikes but Rothsilva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
