Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Utah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Utah comes to the cage accompanied by Californaication by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Johnny Utah could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Renato Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Utah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Renato Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Utah tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A punch combination from Utah misses.
Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Utah.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gracie passes Utah's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Utah is trying to control but can't.
Utah is trying to get back to full guard.
Utah is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!
Gracie wants to take his opponent's back but Utah doesn't allow it.

Gracie is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Utah gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Utah swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie looks gassed!
Utah is trying to keep Gracie in close.

Utah escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Utah is keeping the position.

Utah has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Utah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Utah misses with the combination.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Utah avoids nicely.
Utah tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range.
Utah fails with the takedown

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Utah.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Utah swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie trying to control but Utah is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Utah is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Utah manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Utah's guard.

Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Utah stops Gracie from passing to mount.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Utah is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gracie tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Utah tries to improve position but can't.

Gracie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gracie tries to move into full mount but can't pass Utah's legs.

Gracie tries for a kimura but Utah is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Utah sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renato Gracie dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Utah tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Utah is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Utah keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie passes Utah's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Gracie is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Utah is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
