The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

No joy there for Nielsen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

da Silva avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nielsen.
da Silva tries to buck Nielsen off but Nielsen is having none of it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nielsen connects with a nice short shot to da Silva's temple.

Nielsen is in close to da Silva's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Nielsen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but da Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nielsen has da Silva in his guard.
Nielsen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

da Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nielsen's guard.

da Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nielsen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, da Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Nielsen's legs - danger averted.

da Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nielsen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nielsen shrugs it off.
