The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kocherlakota closes the distance looking to clinch
and Penn Jr makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Penn Jr fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Kocherlakota moves to clinch but Penn Jr breaks away
and Penn Jr counters with a leg kick.
Kocherlakota will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Penn Jr pushes Kocherlakota away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kocherlakota gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Penn Jr seems a little lost for a moment, as Kocherlakota dominates the positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kocherlakota has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Penn Jr is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kocherlakota yanks on the arm and Penn Jr is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kocherlakota.
