PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josafa Mario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murphy takes the fight into the clinch.

Mario manages to pull guard.
Mario striking off his back but it's not causing Murphy any problems.

Murphy drops back looking for a leg! Mario is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mario manages to kick Murphy off! Murphy jumps back into Mario's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mario throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Murphy stands up out of Mario's guard for a moment - Mario manages to land a nice upkick.

Murphy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mario's guard.

Mario is striking off his back. Murphy thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Murphy in particular looking to stall.

Mario is looking for a sweep. Murphy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Murphy tries to stand but Mario is controlling from the bottom.

Mario throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murphy is pushing down on Mario's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mario is fighting to maintain full guard but Murphy has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Murphy lands a nice short elbow.
Murphy tries to stand and escape but Mario is controlling the position.

Murphy is working for a kimura but Mario is defending it quite comfortably.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Murphy connects with a nice short shot to Mario's temple.

Murphy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mario doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Murphy.
Mario is looking for a sweep. Murphy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Murphy winds up and cracks Mario with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mario has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Murphy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Murphy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mario is defending against the submission attempts here by Murphy.
Murphy wants to control but Mario is keeping him busy.

Mario is not content to let Murphy control the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Murphy shoots in and bounces Mario off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Murphy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Murphy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mario knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mario is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Murphy has latched onto it... Big trouble! Murphy pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Mario is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Murphy!
