The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noreaga fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Noreaga throws a right hand that Igor ducks under and follows up with a left that Igor also avoids with ease.

Igor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Noreaga, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Noreaga tries to buck Igor off but Igor is having none of it.
Igor has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Noreaga!

Igor goes for an armbar but Noreaga turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Noreaga.

Igor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Noreaga manages to get himself to full guard.

Igor drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Noreaga manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Igor has Noreaga in his guard.

Igor is looking for a triangle here but Noreaga uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Noreaga will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Noreaga wants to stand up but Igor has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Noreaga throws a nice looking combination but Igor bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Noreaga throws a looping overhand right but Igor ducks down to avoid it.

Igor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Igor works to advance to full mount. Noreaga defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Igor has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Noreaga has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Noreaga is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Igor gets his way!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
