Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zirry Swan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swan comes into the arena with Blame it on my ADD blaring out of the sound system. James has chosen The Ultimatum as his entrance music. Rip James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zirry Swan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Swan clinches with his opponent.
James looking for a takedown.
James wants to take the fight to the mat but Swan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Nice body punch from Swan - that landed with a thud.
Swan is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Zirry Swan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rip James.

James jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Swan walks away with a smile on his face. James gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

James tries to keep at a distance but Swan has taken the fight into the clinch.
James tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Swan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Swan tries a knee to the head but James blocks it.

Swan lands a right hand that snaps the head of James backwards.
James wants a takedown.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Swan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Swan lands with a light punch inside.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

James gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
James wants to control but Swan is keeping him busy.
James takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
James not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
James passes to full mount!
James throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Swan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James throwing strikes here but Swan is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

James looking to land elbow strikes but Swan uses the position to regain half guard.
James is thwarting Swan's attempts to control the position.
Swan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Swan tries to get out of the position.

Swan is looking to improve his position.

James is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Swan sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James is looking for a kimura here.
Swan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.
James trying to mount his opponent but Swan defends it.
James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Swan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

James is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Swan sees it coming and defends easily.
James is looking to advance position but Swan won't allow it.
James content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
James is trying to control. Swan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James stalling away here and it's allowed Swan to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rip James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


James throws a right hand that misses
and Swan counters with a straight right hand.
Swan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Swan throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.
Swan slips under a jab from James.
A head kick misses from Swan.
Rip James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Swan. No joy for James on that attempt.
James looks to throw the jab but Swan is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Swan tries to clinch but fails miserably

so James counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
James wants to pass the guard but Swan is keeping the position.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Swan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James pushes down on Swan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
James is controlling the pace.
James works his way into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James lands with some strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Swan has worked his arm free - good work by Swan!
James in side control, throwing shots but Swan defends.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Swan is avoiding damage well.

James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Swan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Swan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but James wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Swan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

James has hold of Swan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Swan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - James cranks the arm and Swan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Swan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rip James!
