The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silva lands in his opponent's guard.
Silva throws an elbow that misses. Nogueira uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Nogueira!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Robson Silva.

Nogueira gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva connects with a couple of short punches.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nogueira is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nogueira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silva connects with a nice short shot to Nogueira's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
