The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Matthews looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Matthews with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Matthews connects with a solid leg kick.
Matthews fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Matthews sizes up Middleton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Middleton works over Matthews's head and body with a nice combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Middleton throws a head kick that misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Middleton misses the target.
Middleton takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Middleton tries a head kick but it misses.
Middleton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matthews moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Matthews ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Middleton is breathing heavily.

Middleton avoids a wild elbow strike from Matthews.

Middleton is trying to force a seperation but Matthews has the dominant position.

Matthews lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Middleton backwards.

Middleton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Middleton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mike Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Middleton's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Middleton duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matthews throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Middleton's head.
Middleton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Matthews jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Middleton is rocked!
Matthews cracks Middleton on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Middleton falls backwards against the cage. Matthews follows up with more strikes that drop Middleton to his knees. Matthews keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Middleton! This one is all over!

A relieved looking Mike Matthews thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
