Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between VJ Kiwi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yu Wi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiwi comes to the cage accompanied by Redlight - Get Out My Head. VJ Kiwi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, VJ Kiwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yu Wi!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wi wants to clinch up but Kiwi keeps it at a distance.

Wi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kiwi is trying to maintain the position but Wi is very close to passing his half guard.
Wi stalling.
Kiwi wants to control but Wi is keeping busy.

Kiwi kicks off Wi and gets to his feet.
Wi with a poor takedown

and Kiwi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wi won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kiwi trying to control the position but Wi is working away.
Wi is trying to control Kiwi's posture but Kiwi avoids it.

Kiwi is looking to take a break and control but Wi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wi is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Kiwi is staying tight to Wi's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Wi is looking to reverse the position.

Kiwi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wi seems a little lost for a moment, as Kiwi dominates the positioning.
Wi wants to get back to his feet but Kiwi is dominant here and he's now got Wi's back!

Kiwi goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Wi escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Kiwi tries to kick Wi off but Wi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Wi seems to be working for a kimura but Kiwi defends the submission attempt.
Kiwi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kiwi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wi is one step ahead there.

Wi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wi trying to control but Kiwi is working from the bottom.

Kiwi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wi defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiwi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kiwi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wi wants to control from the top but Kiwi keeps moving.

Wi working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Wi throws a big elbow that misses.

Wi stands and steps away. Kiwi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kiwi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kiwi shoots in looking for a takedown. Wi tries to sprawl out of it but Kiwi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kiwi is breathing heavily.
Nice shot by Wi.
Kiwi wants to clinch.
Kiwi will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kiwi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wi but Wi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for VJ Kiwi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kiwi thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kiwi works Wi's body with a nice hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kiwi slips a jab and a cross from Wi.

Wi drives through with a takedown into Kiwi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Wi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kiwi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wi has managed to get both his arms back between Kiwi's legs - danger averted.

Wi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that VJ Kiwi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

It looks like VJ Kiwi has been cut.
Kiwi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wi pinned against the cage. Wi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wi takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
VJ Kiwi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Wi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kiwi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kiwi escapes and throws Wi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Kiwi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kiwi asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Kiwi decides to stand back up. Kiwi steps back and let's Wi get back to his feet.
Kiwi tries to clinch but Wi is having none of it.
Kiwi slaps away a takedown attempt from Wi, before circling back to the center of the mat.

No joy there for Kiwi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
VJ Kiwi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kiwi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wi is able to avoid easily.

Wi gets caught napping as Kiwi dives in and scores a takedown. Wi manages to retain guard.

Wi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Wi looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kiwi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Wi is trying to stand.
Wi is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kiwi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Wi manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Wi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kiwi dodges the punch combination from Wi.
Wi tries for a takedown but Kiwi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
VJ Kiwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yu Wi.

Wi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wi lands in his opponent's guard.
VJ Kiwi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kiwi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kiwi is trying to control the action in half guard but Wi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

VJ Kiwi has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Wi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wi lands with a nice combination. Kiwi backs away looking to recover.
Wi keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Wi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kiwi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wi.

Kiwi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kiwi prevents Wi from getting the reversal.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wi wants to control but Kiwi is having none of it.

VJ Kiwi dominated that second round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Kiwi is looking to stand up but Wi isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wi lands a nice short elbow.

Kiwi gets full guard.
Wi throwing strikes but missing.
Kiwi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kiwi wants to pass the guard but Wi is defending well.
Wi trying to hold on to Kiwi's head to control him but Kiwi postures up.
Wi has his hands clasped together around Kiwi's back. He's all about the action.

Wi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kiwi pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kiwi throwing shots but Wi is blocking nicely.
Kiwi works his way into side control.
Kiwi trying to control the position but Wi is working away.

Wi bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wi moves out of range of the strikes.
Yu Wi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wi tries for a takedown but Kiwi circles away easily
and Kiwi counters with a low kick, right behind Wi 's knee.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yu Wi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kiwi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
