Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Laranja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, VortzU Bakhtin!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakhtin stuffs the takedown attempt from Laranja. Laranja gets slowly back to his feet.
Laranja misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bakhtin misses with an uppercut.
Bakhtin throws an overhand right that lands on Laranja's shoulder, as Laranja tries to avoid the shot.
Bakhtin scores with a jab to the body.
Bakhtin takes a swing at Laranja's ribcage but misses.
Renato Laranja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bakhtin jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Laranja is defended easily by Bakhtin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bakhtin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Bakhtin leaves Laranja with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bakhtin moves into range and connects with a jab.
Laranja fails with an attempt to clinch.

Laranja scores a takedown into full mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bakhtin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Laranja.

Bakhtin tries to hold on but Laranja pushes him away.
Laranja has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Laranja jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bakhtin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ground and pound from Laranja seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Laranja working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Laranja is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bakhtin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bakhtin is looking to reverse the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bakhtin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bakhtin wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Bakhtin tries to bench press Laranja off him but Laranja keeps the position.

Laranja decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Laranja will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Laranja shoots in but no luck this time.
Bakhtin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Laranja at a distance.
Good standup being displayed there by Bakhtin as he connects with a hook.
Laranja throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bakhtin's waist but Bakhtin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Laranja off to one side.
Bakhtin throws out a powerful jab.
Bakhtin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Laranja fails to land the takedown.
Laranja walks into a straight right hand from Bakhtin.
Bakhtin throws a right hand that Laranja ducks under and follows up with a left that Laranja also avoids with ease.
Bakhtin connects with a body shot that sends Laranja's belly button to the back.
Laranja is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bakhtin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Laranja backs up against the ropes.
Bakhtin looks to land a left hand but Laranja moved out of range nicely.
Laranja takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Laranja dodges the punch combination from Bakhtin.
Laranja walks into a straight right hand from Bakhtin.
VortzU Bakhtin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bakhtin misses with a straight right.
Laranja takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Laranja slips under a jab from Bakhtin.
Laranja has a takedown stuffed.
Bakhtin digs a good hook to Laranja's body.
Bakhtin stuffs the takedown attempt from Laranja. Laranja gets slowly back to his feet.
Bakhtin cracks Laranja with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Bakhtin works over Laranja's head and body with a nice combination.


Laranja is rocked!
Bakhtin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oh Laranja is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bakhtin wants to clinch.
Laranja seems to have got his legs back now.
Bakhtin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Laranja had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Bakhtin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Laranja's hands.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Laranja looks for a takedown but Bakhtin sprawls well.
Bakhtin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bakhtin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Laranja gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Laranja shoots in for a double leg but Bakhtin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Laranja has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bakhtin finds it's way round the side to connect with Laranja's head.
Bakhtin digs a good hook to Laranja's body.
Bakhtin circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Laranja to the canvas! Laranja doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Bakhtin keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). VortzU Bakhtin!
After the fight, VortzU Bakhtin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
