PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yancy Norse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauro Breda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yancy Norse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauro Breda!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Breda just misses with a punch to the body.
Norse lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Breda throws a lazy right hand but Norse sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Norse moves out of range as Breda strikes.
Breda defending well as Norse loads up on a big left hand.
Breda takes a swing at Norse's ribcage but misses.
Norse throws the left hand but Breda avoids the punch easily.
Norse misses with a straight left.
Breda misses the shot to the body.
Norse lands an overhand right.
Norse shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Breda eats them both and turns towards Norse to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Breda has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Breda there as he acknowledges the shot.
Breda blocks a jab.
Norse swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Yancy Norse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Breda uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Norse.
Norse connects with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Norse throws a one two combo.

Norse fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Breda checks it well.
Norse loads up on a big right hand but Breda slips the punch.
Breda walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Norse misses with a few strikes there.
Norse swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Norse keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Norse throws a shot to the body.
Breda has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Norse.
A big left from Norse misses.
Norse misses with the combination.
Norse throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Breda ducks right into an uppercut from Norse.
A looping hook to the body misses from Breda. Norse does a little dance to reset his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Norse misses with a few strikes there.
Norse connects with a right hand. Breda shakes it off.
Breda throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Breda blocks a leg kick.
Breda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Norse.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Norse lands a glancing blow to the side of Breda's head.
Yancy Norse is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Norse misses with an uppercut.

Norse scores with a sloppy right hand. Breda should have avoided that one.
Breda is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Norse rather than just go for the knockout.

Norse swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Norse lands a nice shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Norse. Breda does a little dance to reset his feet.

Breda shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Breda is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Breda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Norse sees it coming and defends easily.
Breda seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Norse does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Norse avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Breda.
Breda lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Norse wants to get back to full guard.

Breda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Norse sees it coming and defends easily.
Breda thows a huge punch but Norse dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Norse is trying to get back to full guard.
Breda thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Norse's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yancy Norse dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Norse misses with a looping left.

Breda shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Norse is trying to defend but Breda finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Norse is refusing to be controlled, as Breda sits in half guard.

Breda is working for a kimura but Norse is defending it quite comfortably.
Breda seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Breda thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Breda works his way into side control.
Breda trying to control the action but Norse is working from the bottom.
Breda is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Breda has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Norse!

Breda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Breda working for a submission but Norse is keeping him at bay.

Breda controlling his opponent.
Breda's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauro Breda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Norse's corner calls for a 1-2. Norse obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Breda scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Breda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Norse keeps working.
Mauro Breda has got the better of the ground game so far.
Norse knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Breda on the ground.

Breda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Breda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Norse tries to bench press Breda off him but Breda keeps the position.
Norse takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

You can see the frustration on Norse's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Breda has an Americana. Norse didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Breda is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Breda hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mauro Breda!
Mauro Breda gave a mention to Black Hand Fight Gear & Laundry in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
