PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Assis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Weed Kush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assis comes to the cage accompanied by Falling Slowly. Weed Kush told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kimbo Assis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Weed Kush!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assis clinches up against the cage.
Kush being controlled against the cage.
Assis creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kush's defenses.
It looks like Weed Kush has been cut.
Assis manages to break the clinch.
Assis fails with the takedown
and Kush counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Assis tries to get to full guard but Kush has control of the leg.
Kush seems to be working for a kimura but Assis defends the submission attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Assis is looking for a sweep. Kush is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Assis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Assis manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Kush fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Assis lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Assis! Kush is out on his feet! Assis rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Kush is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Kush is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kimbo Assis!
Kimbo Assis opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
