Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gon Jai!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A nice leg kick lands there from Jai.
Jai works James's body with a nice hook.
Good leg kick by Jai there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
James takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jai tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jai lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.

James takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jai moves away.
Jai lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jai tries a head kick but it misses.
Jai is looking to clinch but James is avoiding it.
James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jai buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jai.
Jai throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
James is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


James is rocked!

James steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Jai. That one must have hurt.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jai.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jai gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jai manages to get himself to full guard.

James is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Jai is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.

James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jai looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jai is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
James fails to pull the fight into his guard.
James tries to pull guard but Jai forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This has been an exciting period of action!
James is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

James gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
James wants to control from the top but Jai keeps moving.

Jai has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. James doesn't defend quickly enough and Jai has managed to lock this one up! Can James escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Jai on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gon Jai!
